How to get from the Zürich airport to the ETH-Hönggerberg campus using public transportation:
train -> Zürich Oerlikon -> Bus 80 -> ETH Hönggerberg
or alternatively
train -> Zürich HB -> Tram 11 -> Bus 69 -> ETH-Hönggerberg
After you collect your baggage, follow the signs for the trains (run by the Swiss National Railway or SBB, signs may say "Bahn/Railway"). The airport train station is on the lowest level of Terminal B, one level below the lower shopping area (there are two levels of shopping area in Terminal B).
You can either buy a single ticket valid for 1-2 hours or a day ticket valid for 24 hours. Since the day ticket is only twice the cost of the single ticket, it is often more economical to buy the day ticket. The day ticket (Tageskarte) from the airport costs 10.80 SFr (5.40 SFr if you have a Swiss Half Price Card) and is good for trains, trams and buses for 24 hours in the Stadtnetz or Zürich city region as well as the airport region.
There are several different ways of choosing the day ticket on the ticket machine. One way is to press the red "Stadt Zürich" button on the lower part of the machine, and then to press the "<=>" double arrow key near the top of the machine (day ticket is the same as a round trip ticket). The ticket machines at the airport should accept both coins and 20 SFr notes. There is also a ticket office on the lower shopping level where you can ask for assistance. Tickets have to be bought before boarding since no tickets are sold on trains, trams or buses.
