Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR)

We are mainly interested in structure, function and folding of biological macromolecules and their complexes. Our main working tool is nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Two professors of the ETH were awarded Nobel Prices in Chemistry for the development of the necessary NMR methodology (Prof. R.R. Ernst (1991) and Prof. K. Wüthrich (2002)).

Masterarbeit (nur für Studierende an der ETH)

Sie haben Experimentalphysik, interdisziplinäre Naturwissenschaften, Chemie oder Biochemie an der ETH studiert. Sie sollten Freude haben an experimenteller Arbeit und motiviert sein, sich Wissen in Molekularbiologie anzueignen. Weiter sind Teamfähigkeit und Flexibilität wichtige Voraussetzungen, um die Herausforderungen unserer interdisziplinären Forschung zu meistern. Bitte erkundigen Sie sich nach den aktuellen Projekten.

PhD position (currently no position)

We expect an outstanding diploma/master exam in experimental physics, biophysics or in interdisciplinary natural sciences. You should enjoy experimental work and be motivated to acquire knowledge in molecular biology. Furthermore, capacity for team work and flexibility are required to master the challenges of our interdisciplinary research.
