Curriculum Vitae

My main interests focus on structure determinations of biomolecules in solution by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, studies of denatured proteins in solution and technical aspects of NMR spectroscopy. In 1978 I received my Diploma in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. In 1982 I obtained my Ph.D. in Natural Sciences for my studies on "Two-Dimensional NMR Spectroscopy of Polypeptides and Proteins" under the guidance of Profs K. Wüthrich/R.R. Ernst. Between 1982 and 1988 I worked in industry for seven years, two of which I spent in Australia setting up a subsidiary for an European high-tech company. In 1988 I left industry and joined the research group of Prof. Kurt Wüthrich at the ETH in Zürich in the position of a senior scientist and lecturer. In 1998 I complete my habilitation in biophysics at the ETH. In 1999 I was awarded the Günther Laukien Price at the 40th ENC in Orlando (FL), established two patents with BRUKER AG and was elected a member of the editorial board of MRC. In 2003 I was awarded the title of professor of the ETH Zurich.
